Wheelchair Weight Does Matter
All Dog Wheelchairs are NOT Equal.
|Gromit in a Walkin' Wheels dog wheelchair. The handicapped pet cart is so heavy, Gromit refused to move in the dog wheelchair.|
After sending K9 Carts East the standard seven measurements, e.g., height, width, and length, taken from Gromit, we built a custom K-9 Cart dog wheelchair for Gromit. Features that you will notice on the K-9 Cart dog wheelchair is that there is no front harness or rear harness that must be strapped onto the dog. This makes entry and exit less cumbersome. The rear leg rings are detachable and adjustable with lots of padding to avoid groin sores. The wheels on the K-9Cart.com dog wheelchair are sized for a Corgi not a 60 lb. generic dog. There is also a U-bar across the mid-section to provide additional rigidity and support. All these features and the cart is still adjustable in height, length, and width. Plus front wheels can be added on at a later day should Gromit develop forelimb weakness. So one can appreciate there are many small nuances that make a huge difference to a four-legged pet. Most importantly, Gromit immediately started to use his dog cart!
Tipping the Scales
When Gromit's owner got home, he weighed both he Walkin' Wheels and K-9Cart.com dog wheelchairs. Walkin' Wheels tipped the scale at 10 lbs; K-9 Cart Company East was only 6.4 lbs, That's a 36% difference in weight alone, and the features just don't compare either. Recently, Eddie's Wheels performed a head-to-head comparison with Walkin' Wheels and found that Walkin' Wheels were 20% heavier than Eddie's solid aluminum cart! So we can extrapolate and guess that Eddie's Wheels are still more than 15% heavier than K9 Carts East dog wheelchairs and you get a dog wheelchair made in the USA specifically for your pet.
