Puppy born without front limbs seeks a K-9 Cart

Skip was born without front legs. Christina Dennis from Rome, GA says Skip gets along as best as he can.  She got Skip 8 weeks ago when the owner wanted to destroy Skip because of his birth defect.  Christina is hoping that she can give Skip the best life possible by getting him a dog wheelchair.

I just finished listening to the "Tipping Point" as an audiobook.  I truly love the books by Malcolm Gladwell, and I cannot wait to read (or hear) his latest book when it becomes available at our local Talbot Library e-database link.  While in the middle of listening to this book, I thought about what has been the tipping point for K-9 Cart dog wheelchairs.

TV shows?

It seems almost once a week, I see a video of a local news program showing a pet in a cart.  I remember when we were still making dog wheelchairs in Berwyn, PA and a little spot on "Evening Addition" catapulted the company into the lime light.  More recently, Animal Planet approached us about doing a segment.  That was thrilling until we learned they wanted $30-40K to do the show!  Subsequently, I have seen another wheelchair company on "Animal Planet" similar to what was proposed to us.   We don't have that kind of advertising budget, but the crazy thing is that we saw a real uptick in calls

We were thrilled to see Joyce featured on the Today show on January 13, 2010. There is a brief update of Turiz, the dog saved from Russia (shown in an older generation K-9 Cart dog wheelchair.) Basset Hound Rescued from Taiwan Finalist in Top Dog Contest in K-9 Cart Dog Wheelchair

Benjamin, a Basset Hound, in a K-9Cart.com dog wheelchair is an inspiration to both handicapped pets and people and is definitely deserved of top dog honors.  Benjamin's story starts in an airplane hangar in Taipei, Taiwan, where he was abandoned.

He was a typical black and tan Basset hound with those big brown eyes.  However, in Taiwan, black spotted dogs are bad luck.  Paralyzed presumably from a car accident, the Basset was abandoned with a slew of other dogs.  Guardian Angel Basset Rescue (GABR) received a call in January 2008 and 15 hours later "Benjamin" arrived at O'Hare airport.

Larry Little, GABR's Chairman, met Benjamin at the airport and immediately thought of Mickey Manos, who had previously cared for a disabled dog. On February 11, 2009, Mickey picked up Benjamin and then the adventure began.
