The introduction of carts began with the interest and efforts of an orthopedic veterinary surgeon, Dr. Lincoln Parkes. While at the Animal Medical Center in New York City, Dr. Parkes realized that not all his patients could be cured by surgery. Thus the idea for the K-9 Cart was born. Dr. Parkes remains the owner and in his quest to improve his design over the years is the holder of 3 patents for the K-9 Cart. The original objective was to provide a lightweight adjustable device of simple design which would allow paraplegic animals to walk with minimal stress and easy maneuverability. This objective has not changed in forty years.

In 1998, K-9 Cart Company was divided into two separate companies - K-9 Cart Company East and West. In 2004, with the introduction of our new lightweight tubular aluminum design, marketing of carts East of the Missisippi is now handled by K-9 Cart Company East. West of the Mississippi and international orders are handled by K-9 Cart Company West. With the aid of a K-9 cart, the paraplegic animal is able to walk and run again allowing a more normal life.

At K-9 Cart Company East, Dr. Parkes, now retired from veterinary surgery, still troubleshoots on a daily basis unique custom carts for all sorts of pets. Don't be surprised if you call and find him answering the phone. Our goal at K-9 Cart Company East is to provide the best mobility alternative for your pet. We take pride in the veterinary expertise we've gained, not only in our professional training, but in the unmatched service that we've been providing for over 4 decades.
