Learning to adjust....

K-9 Cart Co East dog wheelchairs are built with the ability to adjust height, length, and width to obtain a perfect fit.  Dachshunds, Corgis, German Shepherds, and Boxers top our list of breeds that we see most frequently.  When we receive measurements, especially for these breeds, we are pretty good at spotting a measurement that seems incorrect or out-of-whack. Sometimes, however, we get measurements from a rescue, such as the Dachshund Rescue South Florida, and we know the measurements look a bit off.  We know it is frustrating for owners to learn how to adjust their cart. and still counting

We have now surpassed our 1,000th follower on twitter. We don't always have time between fittings and answering the phone to tweet as much as we would like, but one learns so much from all our twitter followers. For instance, the other day, we learned that dog noseprints are as unique as people's fingerprints.  Maybe we will start a database of noseprints to catch the

pets that steal the food off the counter!!

Recently, we started a K9 Carts Dog Wheelchair Group on Facebook.  If you want to join the group, please stop by. It is an open group. Post your photos or questions about K9 Carts dog wheelchairs. We also post updates on visitors to our shop in Oxford, MD on our K-9 Cart Company East Fan page.  And don't forget our K9Carts youtube channel either.

No Black and Blue Paws...

full_blue_boot_web

We have been searching for some good boots for those dragging paws. We also know the winter cold is not far away. Introducing our new black and blue boot designed for smaller dogs.  The black and blue boots are made of neoprene with a zipper to make them easy to slip on.  A gusset and elastic velcro band keep them on and the snow and rain out.  Add to that a nice sole that encircles  the paws, and we think we have found a winner of a new boot.  As always, the key to a good boot fit is to trace around the paw while your pet is standing on a piece of paper, and use the measurements of the largest width and length to determine the correct size. to order some boots at K-9Cart.com

News & Events:
Summertime living....

We continue to marvel at the dogs that come to K-9 Cart Company East and manage to move in the 90+ degree heat to demo their dog wheelchairs.  Some of the best sailing in Oxford starts in September as temperatures cool down, and we are looking forward to these cooler temps.  In the meantime, a real treat is to watch the Oxford Log Canoe Races.  The Tred Avon Yacht Club (TAYC) Annual Regatta will be held August 13-14th, 2011.  The following week is the TAYC Heritage series with the last chance to catch the log canoe races in Oxford, MD on August 27-28, 2011.

logcanoe

Every year, we have the treat of the log canoes using the slips in the Oxford Town Creek for a close up view.  For those not familiar with log canoes, they are a traditional sailing vessel of the Chesapeake Bay that were made in a dugout canoe fashion. Originally developed as workboats with bugeyes and skipjacks, log canoes could be used to dredge oysters. The log canoe sailboats carry a lot of sail and have very little beam (that's width in sailing terminology.)  Hence the log canoes are very prone to capsize.  Hiking boards on log canoes allow the crew to hike out and balance the sailboat on each tack. Needless to say on windy days, there are a lot of wet sailors, who did not hike out fast enough, during the log canoe races.  Only about a dozen log canoes remain that participate in the racing circuit.  So if you are in the eastern Maryland area, catch a piece of local history.
