K-9 Carts East Medical Conditions:
Hip Dysplasia

Normal X-ray of Hip

Hip dyplasia can lead to degenerative joint disease (DJD) or osteoarthritis (OA). Hip dyplasia is often associated with moderate to severe pain initially. With malformation of the hip ball and socket joint, arthritis will ensue without surgical treatment. Diagnosis of hip dysplasia is made based on X-ray films of the hip joint by your veterinarian. Many surgical options, ranging from total hip replacement to femoral head and neck excision, exist.

A K9 Cart is usually not indicated for this condition. Occasionally, a K9 EZ Sling may be used for rehabilitation shortly after surgery.
