Horatio

Barb & Chuck:
Newfoundland Horatio in Dog wheelchair
Horatio is our 21-month-old, 125-pound, White and Black Newfie. In 2007, he had surgery for OCD on a front shoulder, which was successful, and three surgeries on the rear legs for luxating patellas, which weren’t successful. This causes him to be hunched down in the rear and not walk any more than necessary. We have been assured that Horatio may be uncomfortable, but not in pain from this. We decided to do whatever we could for our baby. He has been through massage therapy and sees a DVM Acupuncturist, both of which seems to help him be more comfortable.

By far the best thing, was when the Acupuncturist suggest a cart and gave us the K9cart web site!

After talking to Dr. Parkes on the phone, we decided the best thing to do was make the trip to Maryland, so you could meet Horatio and fit him properly for his cart. We are so glad we did it that way, since Horatio’s case was complicated and his cart did need some special tweaking! Horatio has always been a very sweet boy, but having this cart has changed his whole personality. He is happier and a lot more active, Horatio is the puppy he never got to be! We walk 2 times a day and he is up to about 2 miles, which is unbelievable! He has given up his “couch potato” life!
